Mopidevi Subramanyeswar Swamy Temple

The primary deity of the Challapalli royal dynasty, who currently govern the temple, is Sri Subramanyeswar Swamy. The Sri Sakaleswara Swamy temple, which is located next to the Mopidevi Temple, features a Swayambhu (self-manifested) Shiva Lingam. Sagara Chakravarthy, Sri Rama's grandfather, revered this Lingam, hence the temple's name. When floods swept through the village of Mopidevi in 1783, people discovered about the Lingam. The temple was later built by the local landlord, Adusumilli Gangubhotlu. Currently, the Sri Sakaleswara Swamy temple is run by the Adusumulli family.
The history of Mopidevi Temple
According to the ancient Sthala Puranas, this temple's Swayambhu was Subramanyeswar Swamy. In one dream, Subramanyeswar Swamy told a potter named Veeravarapu Parvathalu that there was a Lingam in the anthill in the village of Mopidevi. A devoted follower of Subramanyeswar Swamy, the potter was.
The following day, the potter told the locals about his dream. They proceeded to the anthill and began excavating. They were shocked to discover a Swayambhu Lingam. Since Subramanyeswar Swamy holds Nandi, Garuda, and the Cock in high regard, Parvathalu created additional clay idols of them. After that, he cooked the gods in the Bhatti (furnace) to solidify and preserve the shape of the clay idols.
