The history of Mopidevi Temple

According to the ancient Sthala Puranas, this temple's Swayambhu was
Subramanyeswar Swamy. In one dream, Subramanyeswar Swamy told a potter named
Veeravarapu Parvathalu that there was a Lingam in the anthill in the village
of Mopidevi. A devoted follower of Subramanyeswar Swamy, the potter was.
The following day, the potter told the locals about his dream. They
proceeded to the anthill and began excavating. They were shocked to
discover a Swayambhu Lingam. Since Subramanyeswar Swamy holds Nandi,
Garuda, and the Cock in high regard, Parvathalu created additional clay
idols of them. After that, he cooked the gods in the Bhatti (furnace) to
solidify and preserve the shape of the clay idols.
